Martyn Cook Antiques is an established Sydney retail business specialising in antiques, objets d’art, porcelain, lamps, paintings, silver etcetera as well as modern and reproduction furniture. For more than 20 years Martyn has enjoyed a considerable reputation dealing from premises at Queen Street, Woollahra. He has now re-located to Redfern; the historic Electrical Lighting Station, the first ever built in Sydney, has been acquired by Martyn and his partner Thomas Hamel, the interior designer.
Exhibitions are mounted at times of antique furniture, paintings, silver and jewelry. Some have also been coupled with the hosting of charity events. Martyn Cook Antiques also offers a full restoration service. Those services include hand carving replacement pieces; cabinet making; replacing veneers; inlay and marquetry; cleaning and polishing of brasses; rebuilding locks and making keys; fitting leather tops and French polishing. We are able to reproduce chairs to add to existing sets and, from photographs, can also reproduce some items of furniture. Martyn Cook Antiques does offer onsite restoration services.
